Disappointed

This is for your everyday spare bedroom
So I got this TCL TV. I've had another TCL in my office, same 32 inches, for around 8 years, and it's still solid,d but one of the other roomsdidn't have a TV, so I installed this one. Thingss surely have changed in this space. The picture is super bright and colorful for a smaller screen, and the border around the display is so thin it looks really sleek.
Meh, not great, not bad, TCL is just average
TCL used to be my Roku brand of choice, but now it's Hisense. TCL TVs have failed on me twice in the past 7 years and those were both 65" versions! Roku is my preferred streaming interface and TCL seems to have gotten that part right as far as quick startup and integration, but Roku has recently changed the way their menus behave and I find it more difficult to customize the menu to serve my needs. Sometimes when I'm looking for Antenna TV for local stations, I can't find that app, and I choose the LiveTV app by mistake and it gives me all the internet connected free television instead of the OTA versions. That frustrates me as I have to go back to the menu and slog through all the slop that Roku is getting bloated with. TCL has provided good value in the past but I'm afraid that their build quality may be suffering, and their warranty was too short also, so keep that in mind when buying an expensive TV, that you might be better off with a cheaper no-name brand that will cost much less if you're going to have to replace it in 5 years time anyway. Too bad every TV takes long to boot up, and powering it off doesn't mean rebooting, as that takes a deep menu dive or a physical power cord disconnection. Since Fox bought Roku, I'm expecting further deteriorating of the platform so I can't really recommend this brand anymore, especially for the 32" size which can be had at your local big box retailer for eighty-nine bucks these days!
High Quality for the price
This is a full featured TV for a bargain price. We needed a new TV to replace the one in the room where my wife walks on the treadmill every morning. We stream Google TV and YouTube TV over wifi, and actually don't have Roku, so it was a tad confusing to get set up. The setup process wants you to log into or create a new Roku account once you connect to wifi, and I had to reset it to get past that screen. I realized that I'm connected to wifi through the Google TV so didn't need the TV to be connected to Wifi, so at the wifi part of the setup I just said to do it later. Then in settings I had the TV start up on the HDMI port rather than through the regular TV, and since my Google TV (connected to that HDMI port) was already connected to wifi, I was all set.
Nice TV for the price!
I gave this TV a 4 stars only because when you turn it off, the off light is so bright...it's almost like a night light when I go to bed. I bought it for my bedroom because it's a Roku Smart TV. My previous one wasn't, so I was not able to watch my streaming apps in my bedroom only my living room. Love the TV, color, sound not so great (but will do for a bedroom) love how easy it was to set up, but that light is too bright and it's a white light. My other 2 televisions (Samsung)have a small red light that you can barely see, it doesn't light up the room! I'm trying to find a way to cover that light when not in use when I go to bed.
Compact TCL Roku TV Packs Impressive Features and Value
I chose this TCL 32-inch R3D Series because I wanted a compact television that still offered a strong combination of picture quality, smart features, and easy connectivity. The 1080p QLED display is a particularly nice feature of this size, giving movies, sports, news, and everyday streaming a bright and colorful presentation without making the television unnecessarily complicated.
Very Frustrating, Not for Older People
The picture quality is good, but the Roku system makes this TV unnecessarily complicated, especially for older people.
A Great Small TV That Does Not Feel Cheap
A 32-inch TV is one of those sizes that works especially well when you do not need a giant centerpiece, but still want something that feels like a proper TV rather than a computer monitor with streaming apps bolted onto it. This TCL fits that role really well. It is compact enough for a bedroom, kitchen, office, or dorm, but the bezel-less design keeps it from looking cheap or dated.
